Also the TAMSEIS expedition, meant to investigate the history of the Transantarctic Mountains, has its beginning here: the logistical headquarters of the US Antarctic Program. At this place, 30 kg polar clothing are handed out to, and tried on by each of the participants - at +25° C in the New Zealand summer.
