Not quite! Meteorites fall to the ground from time to time - as many in Antarctica as elsewhere. They usually are very difficult to find because they almost look like ordinary rocks. But here on the Polar Plateau, it is easier: everything that is not ice must come from the air or from space. Scientist use this principle and collect meteorites on the ice, some of which even come from Mars after being catapulted away by a large meteorite impact on our neighbour planet.
