An old sledge of times when research in Antarctica was much more difficult, rests in peace aside the station. Since the climate is quite conserving, old equipment rottens very slowly.
Just a few years ago, before the times of the Antarctic Treaty, they were sled dogs present at many Antarcic bases. They were important helpers on expeditions to the interior of the continent. Today, motor sledges and caterpillars are used.
